love

1 corinthians 13: 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.8 Love never fails.

This is on my heart today as I look around this world. I realize few people have a clue what love is. Loving someone is about preferring the other person. It is about selflessness. It is about serving someone else, not yourself. You know you love someone when their happiness matters to you more than yours, even if that means letting them go. Stalking, violence, hurtful words, belittling someone - not love. Loving someone so much "you can't and won't live without them" - not love. Love that hurts - not love.

Loving someone sometimes means letting them go. And loving someone always means being Godly, even when they aren't.
